Yeah, I kind of like them, but don’t have much time to play. Plus, I am really bad at them. 🙂
When I was a kid, I started writing my own flight simulator game, even, but got bored when it came to making up some kind of landscape to fly over, and anyhow the game was veeery low quality.
Games I actually did play (though all a very long time ago) were Commandos by Eidos, Silent Service (from 1985, gosh!), or, more recently, when I have the odd minute of boredom, Frozen Bubble. Or Bobby Carrot. Much simpler games, but also much easier to use.
Generally I came to the conclusion that life itself is a much more interesting game if you learn how to play it right. 🙂
Yes, I enjoy video games. I tend to play strategy games like Civilization, or first-person shooters to blow off some steam.
Like many scientists though, I can be a bit obsessive. Once I start playing a game (or tackling a scientific problem) I will keep going and going until I complete it. I therefore have to be very careful and only play occasionally. Otherwise, I’d never get any sleep!
Video games are my favorite way to unwind. My favorite two types are grand strategy games like Civ V and Europa Universalis, and FPS games like Half Life 2 and Bioshock.
I really, really suck at FPS games though! Guess I’m getting old…
