      Good question!

Let’s start with what we know: any object with a mass will attract other objects by producing some sort of gravitational field.

Objects have mass because of the Higgs Boson, but that’s a whole other topic: the interesting question, and the question I believe you’re asking, is why do massive objects emit gravitational fields in the first place?

Well…nobody knows! We can describe the actions of a gravitational field extremely well, but we don’t know how they come to exist. We think there exists a particle called a ‘graviton’ that causes the law of gravity to exist, but we’ve never found one. It’s one of the great mysteries of science.
