Question: what was your favourite science expiriment when you were at school?

It’s got to be watching a thermite reaction take place. When you mix pure magnesium with iron and add some heat, the magnesium and the iron react…vigorously. It’s like watching a volcano go off!

Our class experiment was a little *too* vigorous, and it started spitting molten iron into the classroom! Nobody got hurt, and it was a fantastic spectacle.
